Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Cipher AI ("the App," "we," "us") is a private AI chat application developed by Christopher Burchett. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using Cipher AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your chat conversations or message history
- AI model outputs or completions
- Documents you attach or index
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Location data (unless you explicitly use a location-based tool within the app)
- Device identifiers beyond what Apple provides to all apps
3. Information We Do Collect
We collect only the minimum necessary to operate the App:
- Purchase and subscription status — processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but we do not receive your payment details.
- Crash reports — if you have opted in to share crash data with developers through iOS Settings, anonymized crash logs may be shared with us via Apple's standard crash reporting. These contain no personal information or chat content.
- App analytics — if you have enabled "Share App Analytics" in iOS Settings, Apple may share aggregate, anonymized usage statistics with us. We use this only to understand which features are used and to improve the App.
4. On-Device AI Processing
All AI inference using local models runs entirely on your device. Your prompts and responses never leave your iPhone when using on-device models.
If you optionally connect a remote LMBridge server that you own and operate, your messages travel between your iPhone and your server over your local network or via the LMBridge relay. The relay is a lightweight signaling service — it passes encrypted WebSocket messages between your devices but does not log or store message content.
5. Third-Party Services
Cipher AI may optionally connect to third-party services that you configure, such as:
- MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations you choose to enable
- External APIs accessed through device tools (e.g., weather, web search)
These connections are made at your direction. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services you choose to connect.
6. Advertising
The free tier of Cipher AI displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising. Upgrading to Cipher Premium removes all ads.
7. Children's Privacy
Cipher AI is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Data Security
Because we do not collect your personal data or chat history, there is nothing to breach on our end. Your data remains under your control on your device, protected by iOS's standard security measures.
9. Your Rights
Since we do not store personal data, there is generally nothing to request deletion of on our servers. For any purchase-related data, please refer to Apple's privacy controls and your Apple ID account settings.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
